Energy-efficient LoRaWAN networks use the WLRGFM-100 as a gateway. The product is designed to accept data over the Internet of Things (IoT infrastructure) from a variety of sensors.

The key advantages of LoRaWAN gateways are their range (10–15 km), high penetration, and low power consumption. As LoRaWAN gateways utilize frequencies between 862 and 870 MHz, they can broadcast without a license.

How it works

To operate, cellular networks need base stations. These stations are positioned close to a sensor network (made up of 100–1,000 separate units). For instance, the gateway is placed adjacent to homes that have radio modules for utilities like power, gas, and water. The radio modules capture meter data, which is then sent to the hub through the LoRaWAN network. The data is subsequently forwarded via the gateway to a server for evaluation. The gateway uses LAN or Wi-Fi networks to access high-speed data lines for this reason.
